[About This Event]

What to Expect

As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly influential in Ghana's economy, institutions and everyday life, important questions arise: Whose knowledge shapes these systems? Who controls the technologies and decisions behind them? Who benefits from the value AI creates?

Our Intelligence, Whose Power? Who Should Control and Benefit From AI in Ghana? continues the Beyond AI Series' exploration of Ghana's AI future, shifting the conversation towards power, representation, control and the distribution of benefits.

The morning programme will feature a focused public conversation examining who shapes AI development, who controls its data and infrastructure, and how Ghanaian people, businesses and institutions can participate in and benefit from its use.

In the afternoon, participants will choose one of three concurrent sessions:

Our Intelligence: Whose Knowledge Shapes AI?

A practical session testing how AI tools represent Ghanaian languages, knowledge and cultural experiences.

Whose Power? Who Controls AI?

A hands-on assessment of selected AI platforms, examining their ownership, data practices and control structures.

Who Should Control and Benefit from AI in Ghana?

A participatory session exploring how AI should be governed, who should influence its use and how its economic and social benefits should be shared.
