What to Expect
Ghana is developing its artificial intelligence ecosystem and implementing a National AI Strategy. But as the country adopts AI, an important question remains: What will Ghana actually own?
Who will control the data, infrastructure and knowledge behind the systems we use? Can Ghanaian institutions maintain, audit and improve them? Will local businesses, workers, creators and communities participate in shaping this technological future—and benefit materially from it?
What Will Ghana Own in the Age of AI? opens the second season of the Beyond AI Series and continues the conversation begun at Nyansa Futures 2026 under the theme From Adoption to Ownership.
The morning programme will feature a focused public conversation examining Ghana’s AI ambitions, local technological capacity, digital infrastructure, international partnerships and public participation.
In the afternoon, participants will choose one of three concurrent sessions:
Who Owns the AI You Use?
A hands-on workshop examining the data, infrastructure, companies and forms of knowledge behind commonly used AI tools.
Building AI with Ghanaian Knowledge
A practical workshop in which participants will use AI tools to develop responses to needs in education, agriculture, healthcare, enterprise, culture or public services.
The Nyansa Declaration
A participatory session where participants will contribute principles, rights and responsibilities for ensuring that Ghana’s technological development serves its people.
This event also introduces Intelligence in Common, the theme for Beyond AI Season II, and begins the public consultation toward the Nyansa Declaration.

Who Should Attend?
The event welcomes students, workers, educators, researchers, entrepreneurs, creators, technologists, public servants, policymakers, civil-society organisations, media practitioners and anyone interested in Ghana’s technological future.
No previous experience with artificial intelligence is required.
What to Bring
Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or smartphone for the hands-on sessions.
